The weather was ideal for the 8th Annual Friends of the Chicopee Library Golf Tournament. The setting was the Chicopee Country Club with its rolling, lush fairways and challenging greens. Our 68 golfers enjoyed a beautiful day on the links. Awards were given out after a delicious Prime Rib dinner at the Hu Ke Lau. The three Hole-in-One contests were challenging, but produced no winners. The low scores of the winning teams rivaled those of professional golfers. The lowest scoring Men’s Team was Joe Topor, Ed Ondrick, Jim Grochmal and Mike Sweeney with a score of 57! The winning Mixed Team was Lisa Pasternak, Steve Jones, Paul Chmura & Bev Pasternak with a score of 67. The winning Ladies Team with a score of 64 was Virginia Robak, Caroline Egan, Christine Liquori and Gail Sherman. The names of the lowest overall scoring team will be engraved on the tournament plaque, which is on permanent display in the Friends Office. Other award winners were Mike Beck and Lisa Pasternak with the Longest Drives for men & ladies on Hole 15. Closest to the Pin at Hole 3 was Zygmunt Wachta coming in at 7' 7.5."
